Master of Arts in Education Program

 

DESCRIPTION

The Master of Arts in Education (MAEd) program is designed for persons pursuing careers in both private and public schools. The curriculum emphasizes the application of theory to practice in the areas of student development, student affairs, administration and leadership. In addition, the program addresses historical perspectives and current issues related to the legal, management and research aspects of education. Our mission goes beyond leadership to also lay out our expectations for fostering “student learning and well-being by being knowledgeable in content, being competent in pedagogy, being ethical in practice, building relationships, embracing diversity, reflecting critically, and collaborating effectively.”

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

An applicant must submit the following materials to the Director of Admissions to be considered for admission:

1.     A completed online Application for Admission form.

2.     Application fee of $50 (non-refundable).

3.     Bachelor of Arts or Sciences Degree or international equivalent from an approved college or university with at least a 2.0 Grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).

4.     Official transcripts from all previous colleges or universities attended sent directly to UUC. 

5.    Two letters of recommendation.

6.     Applicants whose first language is not English must submit a TOEFL with a 530 minimum score (paper-based) or 71 (internet-based).

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

To qualify for graduation with a MAEd, the student must successfully fulfill all of the following requirements:

1.     Complete all MAEd graduate course requirement (36 credits, which includes the final capstone project);

2.     Maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 (B average) or better for all graduate level coursework applying toward the degree;

3.     Successfully complete the MAEd Capstone Project;

4.     Pay all tuition and fees.

TUITION AND FEES

Union University of California commits to provide quality education with affordable cost. Tuition for the Master of Arts in Education program will be $150/per unit (3-unit course = US$450).
